Vic: ACTU to claim $24 payrise for lowest earners

MELBOURNE, Feb 29 AAP - The union movement's case for a "reasonable" $24 weekly pay
rise for the country's lowest paid workers begins in the Australian Industrial Relations
Commission tomorrow.

The ACTU is bringing the action on behalf of a number of unions, including the Textile,
Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia, the Australian Workers' Union and the Transport
Workers' Union, for up to 1.7 million workers.

If approved by the AIRC the so-called Living Wage claim would increase minimum award
rates to almost $410 a week.
