PHOENIX, AR -- The following information was released by the city of Phoenix:
The latest edition of "Diverse City" on PHX11 explores Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department's varied parks, programs and facilities. Hosted by PHX11 Station Manager Deborah Sedillo Dugan, the program premieres at 8 p.m. Monday, March 21.
Featured segments include the city's youth golf program and Maryvale Community Center's dance program, whose participants include nine little girls who successfully auditioned for Ballet Arizona's 25th Annual Nutcracker Production.
"DiverseCity" also takes viewers on location to Pecos Community Center in Ahwatukee, the Rose Mofford Softball Complex, 9833 N. 25th Ave., and Reach 11 Sports Complex, 2425 E. Deer Valley Road. The Desert Wolves fast-pitch softball team practices at the Mofford Complex to prepare for competitive tournaments, and team members say they are grateful that they can use city fields for a nominal fee. The Reach 11 report discusses the facility's economic impact on the city.
The program also introduces a new segment, "Citizen Journalism," that gives viewers the opportunity to tell their own stories. The segment features Kevin Igo, who captures the beauty of Papago Park in a video that placed first in a contest sponsored by Parks and Recreation.
PHX 11 is the city's award-winning news and information station that is broadcast on Cox Cable and accessible on the city's Internet site, phoenix.gov. For more information, visit phoenix.gov/11 or follow PHX11 at twitter.com/watchphx11.
